Salaga is the capital of East Gonja district, located in the Savannah Region of northern Ghana.[2][3] The town had a population of 25,472 people as of 2012.[1] Salaga is historically known for being the largest slave market in Ghana during the 18th and 19th centuries, where people were bought, sold, and traded for cattle.
