Nyankpala, located about 10 miles south-west of Tamale in north Ghana, is a town in the Tolon-Kumbungu District and is home to the first campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS). Additionally, it serves as a hub for various government institutions, including the headquarters of the Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) and an on-farm station of the Animal Research Institute (ARI) and Soil Research Institute. The town is also home to the Avnash rice industry plant and is known for its production of mangoes, rice farms, and rice products. Market days in Nyankpala occur every six days, attracting traders, students, farmers, and government workers who purchase groceries and other items.
