Larabanga is a small village situated in the West Gonja district of the Northwestern Northern Region of Ghana. It is famous for its whitewashed adobe Sahelian mosque which is believed to have been built in 1421 during the peak of the trans-Saharan trade. This mosque is considered to be the oldest mosque in Ghana and holds a nearly ancient copy of the Qur'an. Besides this, the village is also well-known for its Mystic Stone and the unique patterned vernacular architecture. Additionally, it serves as the gateway to the Mole National Park.
