Konongo is a community in Ashanti, Ghana that is known for its gold bar mining and manganese mining. It also serves as the capital of the Asante Akim Central Municipal. As of 2012, Konongo had a settlement population of 41,238 people. The town is situated approximately 53 kilometres away from Kumasi, which is the capital of the Ashanti region.
