Gwollu is the capital of Sissala West district, a small town located in the Upper West Region of northern Ghana. Hilla Limann, who was a former Ghanaian president, was born and raised in Gwollu. The town boasts several tourist attractions including the tomb of Dr. Hilla Limann, a traditional bone setter's center, and a slave defense wall. The wall, which is a double circle, was constructed in the 19th century by Gwollu Koro Limann to protect against slave raiders.
