Bolgatanga, colloquially known as Bolga, is a city and the capital of Bolgatanga Municipal District and the Upper East Region of Ghana, bordering the Burkina Faso border. Bolgatanga has over 2012 settlements and a population of approximately 66,685 people. Bolgatanga is 161 km (about 100 miles) north of Tamale.
